Vito Monaco

Dr. Vito Monaco received his Master degree in Electrical Engineering with first class honors (110/110 e lode) at the Politecnico di Bari (Bari, Italy) in the 2003.
He received his PhD degree in “Biorobotics, Science and Engineering” at the IMT Lucca, Lucca, Italy, in conjunction with the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (SSSA), Pisa, Italy, in 2008, after he spent a 6-month period as “visiting student” at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA).
His current position is Assistant Professor at The BioRobotics Institute, SSSA, Pisa, Italy, where he leads the Locomotion Biomechanics Laboratory.
His main scientific interests are the following: modifications of motor control during walking and unperturbed upright stance due to aging and neuro-musculo-skeletal disorders; biomechanics of falling; design and development of robot mediated strategiesto counteract the lack of balance and to delivery neuro-rehabilitative treatments.
